An ex-special forces soldier turned boatman is hired by a journalist to investigate a top-secret military base on a nearby island.
Controversial take Uwe Boll is only a bad director when his movies do not have a political message, look to assault on wall st and his Rampage trilogy. It should be noted that video game adaptations are not Boll’s strong suit. Though I suppose it could be argued that there has been very few positively received movies adapted from video games. For those of you who are interested Far Cry is a 2004 first-person shooter video game developed by Crytek and published by Ubisoft. It is the first installment in the Far Cry franchise and the main series comprises 6 games. Though Til Schweiger is a great actor. However, I couldn’t help but think that he was a poor casting choice for the role of Jack Carver. Though Schweiger did have his comedic moments throughout the movie, Schweiger came of as being too serious while at least in the game Jack was portrayed as more of a smart ass.I found that the boat chase scene was a little cliched, while the relationship between Jack and Valerie Cardinal almost seemed like an after thought. I loved the eye spy game that Jack and Emilio (portrayed by Chris Coppola) played. While Udo Kier didn’t give the best performance as Dr. Lucas Krieger.
An interesting fact, Anthony Bourdain made a cameo appearance in the movie. Bourdain’s scene was featured in his show No Reservations: Vancouver.
