New fitness equipment installed across Canberra

Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Shane Rattenbury announced that installation is complete of new fitness equipment at three sites across the ACT as part of an ACT Government initiative to get more Canberrans active and outdoors.
“New fitness equipment has been installed at the Tuggeranong town park in Greenway, John Knight Memorial Park in Belconnen and Theodore oval in Theodore,” Mr. Rattenbury said “Each site received an aerobic walker, parallel bars, leg press, trapeze rings and an overhead challenge. Tuggeranong town park also received a push up bar, sit up board, pull up bar and chin up bars. John Knight Memorial Park also received a shoulder press, pull up bar and chin up bars, while a leg lift and dip bar and a push up bar was installed at Theodore oval. The locations and type of equipment was selected based on feedback from the community gathered during consultation last year.” Rattenburry added.
Mr. Rattenbury said the completion of the new equipment comes soon after the launch of a new ACT Government ‘Find fitness outdoors’ website, which helps visitors and residents to find the location of Canberra’s outdoor fitness facilities and share their fitness experiences online.
“The website also contains videos showing how to correctly use the facilities and the various exercises you can do using them,” Mr. Rattenbury said. “The program was funded as part of the ACT Government’s Healthy Weight Initiative which is designed to improve the health outcomes of Canberrans.”
