An American soldier deployed at Abu Ghraib finds himself behind the walls of the infamous Hard Site, where he develops a secret friendship with an Iraqi detainee.

One thing that I have always wondered about movies that are real life events, particularly controversial events like the Abu Ghraib prison scandal, how soon is too soon before you make the movie? For those of you who might not be able to remember news about the Abu Ghraib prison scandal broke in 2004. Now in case you were wondering there has been to documentaries about the scandal released in 2007 and 2008, and Boys of Ghraib is the first movie (as far as I can tell) about the scandal. Though it should be noted that Boys of Abu Ghraib is a fictionalized story loosely based on the abuses that took place because this is only loosely based on the scandal fans of Eli Roth’s Hostel movies might want to look elsewhere.
This was the first film directed by Luke Moran and the second feature that he has acted in. There were some brilliant supporting actors most of whom I had not come across before but everything really hung on Moran’s performance.
The final scene when the scandal broke was brilliant it had a ‘deer in the headlight’ quality which will stay with me for a while.
