Herman Melville’s classic novel Moby Dick, is recreated in a world where Captain Ahab and his crew search for a Great White Dragon.

I can understand the filmmaker’s logic behind making a change to Melville’s 1851 novel Moby Dick, being that if they did a good job with the movie they might inspire people who are not familiar with the story to read it. Director Ryan Little really dropped the ball with the movie, I found it to be rather telling of the quality of the movie when the only star with a bankable reputation Vinnie Jones was killed in the opening act. I was not familiar with any of the stars apart from Vinnie Jones and Danny Glover and after watching this movie I would not be actively seeking out any of the other stars of the movie.
I suppose the saving grace of the movie was the scenery and how the dragons looked in their scenes. If the filmmakers wanted to make a ‘dragon’ movie I have to ask the question why didn’t they just come up with an original story of their own? Did they really have to drag poor Herman Melville into this?
