A pair of aging boxing rivals are coaxed out of retirement to fight one final bout — 30 years after their last match.

I have vague memories of seeing session times of this one at the neighbourhood cinemas, though I did not make time to go see it then. But the moment I learnt the DVD release date for this, Grudge match was in front of my mind making it movie that I would most likely find the time to see.
I’m not really sure what I was expecting of this but I can’t help but think that at age 68 Stallone said all he needed to say in a ‘boxing movie’ eight years ago with Rocky Balboa. I mean at his age Stallone really needs to be getting the next generation action stars ready and that’s exactly what he seems to be doing with The Expendables movies. Yes, I’ll be honest I had a few laughs at some of the ‘old man’ jokes but the training montage did not have the ‘heart’ that the Rocky movies did. I got the impression that this tried to coast by on the reputations of ‘Rocky Balboa’ and ‘The Raging Bull’ and I don’t think that there was enough to the movie to make that possible.
