2014 sees 378 new teachers in the ACT public school system

ACT Minister for Education and Training Joy Burch welcomed the new educators who will be joining the ACT public school system for the start of the school year.
“I extend a warm welcome and also pass on my congratulations to these teachers who have chosen to commence, or continue, their teaching careers in the ACT – one of the highest performing public education systems nationally and internationally,” Ms Burch said.
Ms Burch explained that the 378 teachers include recent graduates (110), teachers who have moved from interstate (7) and overseas (3) to work in the ACT. The cohort also includes specialist teachers in science, maths and English.
Ms Burch said the educators would be supported in their careers in the ACT through dedicated support programs for first year teachers, recognition and rewards for outstanding classroom performance, promotion opportunities for high achieving and talented teachers and attraction in school leadership positions.
