Over 16,000 free plants provided under ACT Government’s Plant Issue Scheme

Chief Minister and Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Katy Gallagher recently announced that 16,963 plants were provided to 996 new landholders in the 2011/12 financial year under the ACT Government’s Plant Issue Scheme.
“The wet weather experienced during much of last financial year has presented perfect conditions for helping to establish new blocks. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this initiative to beautify their new home and suburb,” Chief Minister Gallagher commented.
The Chief Minister explained that under the Plant Issue Scheme Canberrans who have purchased a new residential block of land in the ACT to $220 worth of plants from Yarralumla Nursery and that Residents can collect their allocation of trees and shrubs at any time up to two years from the date of signing the land purchase agreement. To collect your plant allocation you will need to provide personal identification and an original legal document confirming settlement or a current rates notice.
