Safe House

Director: Daniel Espinosa
Stars: Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds and Robert Patrick
Rated M
Score 6/6

When a CIA-operated safe house is targeted by a group of bad guys, the facility’s house-sitter is tasked with the dangerous job of moving the criminal who is being hidden there to another secure location.

Seems to following in the increasing trend of realistic spy thrillers. Safe House has some serious fast paced action and it doesn’t follow in the spirit of spy staples such as the iconic Bond franchise or the hilarious Johnny English Movies, you’ll find no rockets mounted inside the headlights of an Austin Martin here.
Ryan Reynolds gave a brilliant performance it is interesting to think how far he seems to have progressed from his comedic origins. As you would expect Denzel Washington gave a brilliant performance as you would expect from him. Given how morally ambiguous his character seemed I could not help but think that I saw glimpses of his performance from the 2001 film Training day though as a manipulator his character in Safe House seemed to be more of a scalpel as opposed to a hammer.
