Food for Fines initiative finished

ACT Chief Minister and Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Katy Gallagher recently thanked the Canberra Community for donating 3,500 kilograms of food to charity as a part of the Food for fines initiative ran by Libraries ACT.
“A total of 8,084 items were donated through Libraries ACT’s nine branches, with three of the libraries – Dickson, Gungahlin and Woden – each having well over 1,000 items donated,” the Chief Minister said.
Chief Minister Gallagher commented that the total number of items donated beats last year’s total of 7,400 food items.
All the food donated to the Food for Fines initiative was donated to OzHarvest Canberra, which provides food to more than 55 charities in Canberra and Queanbeyan.
