Two lovers engage in a passionate but thwarted romance in this modern adaptation of the classic novel.

For those of you who might be wondering what was the first movie that I reviewed for The Movie Boards is, well this is it. Wuthering Heights and according to my flies I first posted the review for it on May 5th, 2007 and this Wuthering Heights was released in 2003. I suppose Wuthering Heights would have to be at the top of the list of books that have been adapted into movies that I am yet to read (a list that is longer then I care to openly admit to). And for the record I am not going to sit here and discuss which is better the book or the movie. There are other people for that.

I’m not sure what caused me to want to review this in the first place, I suppose it was the glamor of the “Wuthering Heights” factor. If that’s a thing. I might review other movie adaptations of Wuthering Heights at some point, but right now I am not going to put a specific time frame on it. For those of you who might not have that much to do Wuthering Heights, how would I describe it? Well … It’s like a soap opera. It’s not a soap opera of the highest order. Maybe Honorable mention? To me it seemed that most of the main characters where only capable of the kind of the kind of love that results in restraining orders.

I’m not that familiar with director Suri Krishnamma’s work, he delivered something that is worth watching. There were great moments scattered throughout the movie, as far as bastard shaped bastards with a bastard coating go both Johnny Whitworth and Christopher Masterson gave great performances, and as for Mike Vogel who was cast as Heath? Well Heath is an asshole, romantic? Yeah but still an asshole. Though it should also be noted that there were times when the actors particularly Mike Vogel, Johnny Whitworth and Erika Christensen who seemed to be robotic with their performances at times.
