Porky and Daffy, the classic animated odd couple, turn into unlikely heroes when their antics at the local bubble gum factory uncover a secret alien mind control plot. Against all odds, the two are determined to save their town (and the world!)…that is if they don’t drive each other crazy in the process.

With the upcoming release of Cyote v Acme it seemed appropriate to take a look at The day when the earth blew up. First fully animated Looney Tunes feature-length film to be released theatrically. All prior films were either compilations of shorts or partly live-action. The film is a spin-off from the Looney Tunes Cartoons series (2020) developed by Pete Browngardt, and is the first fully animated and theatrically released film in the Looney Tunes franchise consisting of entirely original material. I get that this is an animated movie, and therefore it is over-exaggerated but it’s still …. gross. What really struck me as interesting about The Day the Earth Blew Up was the contrasting art styles. Porky and Daffy seemed to have been drawn in the way that you’d expect them to, then there was the Farmer Jim character and then there was everything else. Now, I’ll be honest I’m not sure if I prefer the portrayal of Daffy in The Day the Earth Blew Up or Back in Action. I loved Peter MacNicol as The Invader. The romantic story between Porky and Petunia was adorable. It was also that there was an explanation about why Porky stuttered.
