News from the HOYTS weekend box office starting Friday, July 24. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey once again dominated at HOYTS and the Australian Box Office this weekend, where the blockbuster held its number one position and drove in $11.5M – bringing its box office total to $29.8M. At number two was The Rock with Moana, which took in $1.24M where the movie’s box office total has come to $14.3M. Toy Story 5 held at number three with $1.17M, where this release has now earned an incredible $44.2M at the box office and has become the third film of 2026 to surpass the $1B USD milestone. Henry, James, and friends held onto fourth place with Minions & Monsters with $790k. This release now has a box office total of $22.5M. Rounding out the top five was the Tamil title, Jana Nayagan, which debuted at number five and generated $670k over the movie’s first weekend.
The top 10 movies together contributed to 94% of the total national gross box office for the weekend. The top genre of the weekend was epic action-adventure as The Odyssey continues to dominate the Australian Box Office.

10. Rounding out the top 10 was the French release, Colours of Time, which took home $90k this weekend. The film now has a total of $441k at the box office.
