Editor’s Note the first seconds of this interview were cut off because I thought I was successfully recording the zoom call. The Question Travis is answering is what are some AI films people need to know about.
“Since the very start of the field, Artificial Intelligence has been haunted by the question of whether machines can be creative or not? At OMNI International AI Film Festival, I’m fascinated to see not whether machines can be creative but whether AI can help humans be more creative. Filmmaking is all about telling stories. Are the stories told at OMNI International AI Film Festival any different to those told by filmmakers elsewhere? Does the technology open new doors? Or does it just widen the doors that filmmakers have always opened? Cinema has always embraced new technology. Whether it be colour, sound, or 3D, technology has always pushed the envelope on the silver screen. AI will surely be no different. I’ve come to OMNI International AI Film Festival to see how that evolution unfolds.”
