Cathay has welcomed The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation as a local charity partner, allowing Cathay members to donate Asia Miles to help deliver Comfort Packs to patients in need. The Brisbane-based Prince Charles Hospital Foundation, through its community and fundraising initiative, The Common Good, makes a valuable impact through funding meaningful patient-care programs, vital equipment and life-changing and life-saving research to help people live healthier for longer. Celebrating 40 years of impact alongside Cathay’s own 80th anniversary, the Foundation has contributed more than $78 million to adult and paediatric healthcare in its history – the Patient Comfort Packs are just one element of this incredible commitment.
For just 3,310 Asia Miles ($32), Cathay members can donate a Comfort Pack to patients at The Prince Charles Hospital and Caboolture Hospital. Each pack contains essentials such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, hand lotion, t-shirt and shorts, and a puzzle book. There are times when patients are admitted to hospital without spare clothes or their basic toiletries, and these Comfort Packs give them the staples they need to have peace of mind and focus on their recovery. To mark the start of this partnership, Cathay will donate 50 Comfort Packs to The Common Good, ensuring these essentials reach the patients that need them most.

“Bringing people, cultures and places together is part of our foundation at Cathay. Through our work, we aim to move people forward in life through travel, cargo, and lifestyle but also through community.” Aldric Chau, Cathay Regional General Manager, Southeast Asia & Oceania commented “This new partnership with The Common Good brings joy and comfort to those who have just been admitted to hospital and may find the transition daunting or sudden. The Comfort Packs donated by our Cathay members will make a real difference for those who need it.”
Steve Francia, Chief Executive Officer, The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation says the Foundation is thrilled to be partnering with Cathay.
“For someone who arrives at hospital unexpectedly, often with little more than the clothes they are wearing, having access to basic essentials can provide dignity and comfort at what can be an incredibly vulnerable time.” Francia commented “Through the generosity of Cathay and its members, these Comfort Packs will be there when patients at The Prince Charles Hospital and Caboolture Hospital need them most. It’s a simple act of kindness that can make a very real difference to someone’s hospital experience.”
