Orin Boyd is a Detroit cop who doesn’t follow rules. After he saved the Vice President by violating every order he received he is transferred to one of the worst precincts in the city. There he quickly encounters some corrupt cops selling heroin to drug dealers.

Apparently Exit Wounds was based on the second novel of the same name of a trilogy written by John Westermann retired Long Island police officer and the author of six crime novels. Steven Seagal is something of a polarising figure. If you believe the stories Seagal is an asshole and if you believe the urban legend the only reason he is famous is because of a bet. Now setting that aside Exit Wounds is probably one of the last great movies starring Seagal. Now Seagal gave the kind of performance that you’d expect from him, which coincidentally is the same performance he’s given since the first of the Under Siege movies. He also has nothing to do with what actually made this movie watchable. The action sequences were mostly cliched though the first between Michael Jai White and Seagal in the movie’s third helped save the movie. It should be noted that the movie’s soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting when compared to almost any other action movie released at the time. Even though Exit Wounds is a mindless action movie it has a great cast including Bruce McGill, Jill Hennessy (I think that Exit Wounds was the first movie I saw Hennessy in when I originally watched Exit Wounds when I was younger and prettier), Isaiah Washington, Michael Jai White, Anthony Anderson and of course Tom Arnold. The Credits sequence featuring Anderson and Arnold was the crowning achievement of the movie.
