News from the HOYTS weekend box office starting Friday, August 7. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is riding the highs of the Australian box office on its second weekend, earning an additional $17.1M, bringing the total to a spectacular $55.5M. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is holding steady in number two, generating another $5.21, bringing the total box office to $47.2M. The toys are still working their magic as Toy Story 5 generated an additional $433K over the weekend. The Rock remains a fan-favourite as Moana sails steady in fourth, bringing in another $349K. Rounding out the top five was comedy-drama film Holy Days, which earned $329K on its opening weekend. 

The top 10 movies together contributed to 96% of the total national gross box office for the weekend.  The top genre of the weekend was action, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day continuing to dominate the Australian box office.

3. Toy Story 5 generated $433K over the weekend. The total box office for this movie is now a spectacular $45.6M.
4. Moana took home $349K this weekend. The movie now has a box office total of $15.6M.
5. Holy Days earned $329K and the #5 spot on its opening weekend. The movie’s box office total is now $405K.
6. Minions & Monsters brought in $226K over the weekend, bringing the movie’s cumulative box office to $23.2M.
7. The Invite brought home $217K over the weekend, the movie now has a box office total of $3.07M.
8. Super Troopers 3 earned $174K and the #8 spot on its opening weekend.
9. Ice Cream Man generated $142K on its opening weekend, with advance screenings, the movie now has a total $150K at the box office.
10. Rounding out the top 10, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, took home $135K on its opening weekend. Including advance screenings, the movie now has a cumulative box office of $293K.
