July 13 – HOYTS at the Australian Box Office

With cinema being an ideal family outing during these school holidays, HOYTS and the national box office saw Moana sail straight into the top spot where it earned $7.31M this past weekend. Other family favourites – Toy Story 5 came in second place earning $5.07M and Minions & Monsters came in third with $3.72M. The supernatural horror film Evil Dead Burn debuted at number four and brought in $745k during its opening weekend. Rounding out the top five was Obsession which brought in $702k during it’s ninth weekend. The film has now earned $23.9M in total at the box office and has become the highest grossing horror movie of all time in Australia. Out this week is the highly anticipated Christopher Nolan release, The Odyssey with its star-studded cast featuring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron.

Top 10 Movies

  1. Moana sailed into the top spot, earning $7.31M at the box office since it’s Wednesday release.
  2. Toy Story 5 came in at number two and brought home $5.07M this weekend, bringing its total box office to $37.4M.
  3. Minions & Monsters continued its minion mayhem during its third weekend where it came in at number three and earned $3.72M. The movie has now brought in $17.3M at the box office.
  4. Evil Dead Burn debuted at number four and earned $745k during its opening weekend.
  5. Obsession came in fifth and continued to captivate audiences, earning another $702k during its ninth weekend. The film has now earned $23.9M at the box office and has become the highest grossing horror movie of all time in Australia.
  6. The Invite debuted at number six and brought home $664k over the weekend. Including advance screenings, the total box office for this movie is now at $906k.
  7. Jackass: Best and Last landed in seventh place and earned another $622k, bringing the movie’s total box office to $2.33M.
  8. Supergirl flew in at number eight where itgained another $495k on its third weekend, taking its box office total to $5.47M.
  9. Disclosure Day landed in ninth where it brought home $286k over its fifth weekend. The movie has now brought in a cumulative total of $9.75M at the box office.
  10.  Rounding out the top 10, Hindi title, Dhamaal 4 earned $253k on its opening weekend
