Audiences attending the Sydney Film Festival Australian Premiere of the internationally acclaimed film Body Blow are in for a unique second course as the cast take to the stage to perform music from the film live. Body Blow makes its Australian Premiere at 6:15pm at Event Cinemas George Street as part of the Sydney Film Festival. At 9:00pm, step into the steamy world of the film as the cast takes the stage at The Hub, Lower Town Hall for Body Blow Live — a one-night-only collision of cinema and live performance, featuring cabaret icon Paul Capsis, screen star Tim Pocock, pop sensation Greg Gould, and the film’s acclaimed composer Andreas Dominguez.

A disgraced cop is reassigned to Sydney’s gay nightlife district, where he becomes dangerously entangled with a charismatic sex worker and a murderous drag queen mobster. What begins as an undercover mission spirals into obsession, desire, and betrayal — a neon-soaked neo-noir filtered through a proudly queer lens. Shot on location in Darlinghurst and the iconic Stonewall Hotel, Body Blow blends erotic tension, darkly comic twists, and a bold visual style that recalls the transgressive genre cinema of decades past — while remaining defiantly, unmistakably contemporary. Developed with support from Screen NSW, Body Blow made its World Premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas — the largest genre film festival in the United States — before going on to screen at over 20 international film festivals, including Fantaspoa, where it took home the Best Director prize. The film has been acquired for US theatrical release by Dark Star Pictures, and will be released in Australia by Screen Inc. For more information .
THE PERFORMERS

A five-time Helpmann Award winner — including Best Male Actor in a Play and Best New Australian Work for Angela’s Kitchen — Capsis is a singular presence whose performances cross the boundaries of genre and gender. His screen credits include Head On (1998) and the ABC telemovie Carlotta (2014).
- Tim Pocock is a Sydney-born actor and pianist, best known internationally for his role as young Scott Summers/Cyclops in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and as Ethan in the beloved ABC series Dance Academy. A graduate of NIDA, Pocock brings both screen charisma and genuine musical ability to the stage.

He has performed at Sydney Mardi Gras, the MCG Big Bash, and major events across Australia and internationally.
- Andreas Dominguez is an Australian composer whose screen credits include the acclaimed Birdeater(2023) and Body Blow, for which he crafted a score as seductive and volatile as the film itself.
