Ancient Japanese Ronin warriors set 300 years after 47 Ronin, in a modern-day world where Samurai clans exist in complete secrecy.

For those of you playing along at home Blade of the 47 Ronin is a sequel to the 47 Ronin. Set 300 years after its predecessor, the movie details the fight for survival of the final descendants of the 47 Ronin. Personally I got the impression that it was more of a faux sequel rather than a true sequel. Watching the credits for this movie I was giddy for a second that I might actually be able to crack a Chuck Norris joke when I got to write my review because the editor’s name was Chuck Norris.Unfortunately it wasn’t THAT Chuck Norris. There are times in life when just because you are allowed to do something doesn’t mean you should go ahead and do it, the production and distribution of Blade of the 47 Ronin would be two of those instances. I also thought that the MA rating that it received in Australia might have been a tad harsh and perhaps should have been reconsidered considering that this movie is clearly for the under 14. The sense of family that the characters had at the end of the movie certainly was a good thing.
I really, really didn’t enjoy watching this ‘movie’. Now I suppose the easy thing would be to say that I clearly wasn’t a member of the target demographic. I would like to think that even the target demographic would be insulted by this ‘movie’.The uninspired action sequences had me longing for old episodes of The Power Rangers. A fight sequence in an episode of The Power Rangers certainly would have been more thrilling.
There is something that I would like cleared up if possible. The robes worn by the majority of the characters in this ‘movie’ did The Wizarding World give you permission to use them in your movie? because they certainly were an odd wardrobe choice.
