An unfulfilled suburban housewife is shocked to discover that her bland and unremarkable computer consultant husband is a skilled international spy.

Okay just to put things into perspective it has been 29 years since the release of True Lies the movie directed by James Cameron and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as Harry Tasker, which is an english language remake of 1991 French spy comedy film La Totale! (The Total!) directed by Claude Zidi. Now that I have that small piece of homework out of the way there is something that needs to be said, just because you have the option to remake something, doesn’t mean that you should ACTUALLY remake it.One more time just because you have the option to remake something, doesn’t mean that you should ACTUALLY remake it. Now with the involvement of Matt Nix (you might have come across Nix’s work in Burn Notice) and McG this could have been a good series to watch. From what I can gather McG was supposed to direct the pilot but was replaced by Anthony Hemingway. I quickly realized several minutes into the pilot episode that I was going to be in for a painful viewing devoid of any humor from a show that struggled to establish its own identity.  Steve Howey’s performance as Harry Tasker had all the charm of a laxative. It should also be noted that Howey comes across as a discount Tom Cruise on the promotional material. While I’d like to think that virtually everybody else cast in this deserved better.
