Six elite hunters pay to hunt down a man on a deserted island, only to find themselves becoming the prey.

For those of you who might be interested after reading up about Apex it is  a remake of a remake: The Most Dangerous Game (1932) A Game of Death (1945) and is also loosely based on a short story, “The Most Dangerous Game” written by Richard Conwel and first published in 1924. Of course going into this I did not know any of this and my first thoughts about this movie was that it reminded me of Turkey Shoot 2000. Apex really did not go about trying to reinvent anything because the basic plot of the movie is something that has been done before and if we are honest with ourselves is something that will continue to be done and the filmmakers really didn’t try that hard for it to be anything more than it is, though if you pay attention it will become clear that the filmmakers are fans of Bruce Willis’ career. I liked the look of the world that the filmmakers created but there still seemed to be something lacking to the overall feel of the movie. I’ll be honest I didn’t go into this one because Bruce Willis was cast as the lead (some of the past few movies he has released have been less then impressive) but because Neal McDonough was cast as the villain Rainsford. I believe that McDonough is always a great choice for the villain in low-budget action movies and he didn’t dissapointment me. I was also a little surprised to see that Lochlyn Munro was cast in this. It always seems that I stumble across Munro in some of the most interesting of bit parts, I think the last time I saw him in a movie was Rampage: Capital Punishment. I loved Megan Peta Hill’s performance as Jeza.
