Nigella Lawson Coming to Melbourne Food and Wine Festival

Nigella Lawson is coming back for seconds at this year’s Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, with support from the Andrews Labor Government enabling an extra event to be added to the program. Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula today announced that following a sold-out Sunday Lunch with Nigella, a new event, Drinks with Nigella, will take place on Saturday 26 March.
“We’re supporting another show for Nigella Lawson to give foodies an extra serving of the best the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival program has to offer.” Minister Pakula commented. The Minister Nigella Lawson will appear in conversation with Melbourne food personality and author Alice Zaslavsky at The Edge, Federation Square, with drinks from regional Victorian wine producers including Pizzini, Mitchelton and Tahbilk. The Minister said that tickets, which go on sale on Friday, will be in high demand after the Sunday Lunch with Nigella event sold out in just a few hours.

Minister Pakula said that support from the Labor Government has also allowed the festival to add two weekends of free demonstrations and talks at Queen Victoria Market, giving more people the chance to experience this iconic Melbourne event. The Minister went on to point out that over 26 – 27 March and 2 – 3 April, chefs and winemakers from Melbourne, regional Victoria, Adelaide, Sydney, London, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Singapore, and Florence will appear on stage to share their knowledge. The new programming adds to festival favourites, the World’s Longest Lunch and World’s Longest Brunch, a family-friendly pasta fair, a rock ’n’ roll celebration of plant-based eating and drinking, a gathering of the city’s best snacks, and an ode to the humble chip in all its forms.
Minister Pakula said that with a wide range of free and ticketed events, Melbourne Food and Wine Festival is set to draw thousands of visitors into the city and neighbourhoods to experience the culinary delights on offer.
