Dom and the crew must take on an international terrorist who turns out to be Dom and Mia’s estranged brother.

One thing I need to admit the last Fast and Furious movie Hobbs & Shaw left me with little hope for the direction of the franchise though with things seemingly coming to an end after the 10th movie, I suppose I think that I must find out who things wrap up, so the 9th movie is something of a necessary step. Also, whoever came with the line while writing Fast 9 “As long as we obey the laws of physics, then we’ll be fine, okay?” bravo, this possibly the funniest line in the entire 20-year history of the franchise. Although I am fan of movies with a longer runtime the two-and-a-half-hour runtime (the theatrical cut is about seven minutes shorter) is a little excessive and is something you would expect from a fantasy epic and not an action/crime thriller. It comes across as a little self-indulgent on the part of the filmmakers. Given the extra runtime that they were working with for this one a large part of me would have loved to have seen more time dedicated to the flashback sequences. It was great to the events that put Dom on the path that he was walking in the first movie, and I suppose it was only to be expected that they were going to go bigger with the stunts, though considering the direction that they went with them I’m not entirely sure if they will be able to top them in the finale. John Cena or ‘Super Cena’ as he is known by some certainly was an interesting casting as I am sure there are lots of his fans from his days in the WWE would love to see him in the role of a villain. I was also kind of impressed with the story line for Roman and Tej (Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris). There was also appearances from characters from previous movies I loved the sequence between Dom and Queenie (Helen Mirren). Also for those of you like me who have left it awhile to watch F9, be sure to watch the scene in the closing credits.
