When Steve Rogers is seriously injured, Peggy Carter becomes the world’s first super soldier.

Okay, considering that the MCU spans across 22 movies (and even more animated movies) across 13 years sometimes it seems that Marvel wouldn’t be doing their job if they haven’t pissed-off at least some of the fans with their creative choices, and it seems that ‘What If… Captain Carter Were the First Avenger?’ has managed to do just that, with their argument basically being that the artwork for Peggy Carter after she takes the super soldier serum looks as if a female head has been pasted on to a male body and that in the comic books other women who had undergone similar transformations did not end up looking so masculine. Not being the biggest reader of comic books, I can accept that. However, my first thought of Peggy Carter’s artwork after she had taken the super soldier serum reminded me of images of the Chinese Olympic Swim team from the 90’s and the allegations surrounding their ‘scientific testing’. Now taking a moment to set that aside, I think that the “What if….” Series has the potential to be a fun series to watch, especially if you like your science fiction sprinkled with multiverse theory. It was good to see that actors who had been cast in live action roles such as Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper & Samuel L. Jackson voice their characters. It was also good to see that this hit most of the plot beats of the 2011 with a different take on the third act.
