gold medalAfter their gold medal-winning performance in the pool, Bronte Campbell, Meg Harris, Emma McKeon and Cate Campbell will be the first Australian athletes to feature on Australia Post’s Australian Gold Medallist Stamps for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
In a stunning performance, Australia’s 4 x 100 metre Freestyle Relay team set a World Record time of 3:29.69, beating Canada and the USA to earn Australia its third consecutive gold medal in the event. Stamps featuring an image of the four swimmers with their gold medals in Tokyo will be available in participating Australia Post retail outlets from Wednesday 28 July, while stocks last. Madison Wilson and Mollie O’Callaghan who also receive gold medals for swimming in the heats, are acknowledged on the stamp sheetlet.

Olympic champion Chloe Esposito OAM, who featured in the Australian Gold Medallist Stamp program after claiming Australia’s first medal in modern pentathlon at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, said it’s a great feeling to be acknowledged in such an iconic way. “Winning an Olympic gold medal is the pinnacle of any athlete’s career and the Australian Gold Medallist Stamps capture these important moments in our sporting history,” Ms Esposito commented “Of course, the stamps are a wonderful keepsake for the athletes, but they also allow every Australian to celebrate and be proud of these achievements.”
Australia Post will celebrate each Australian gold medal performance in Tokyo with a gold medallist stamp, which will be produced within 72 hours of the medal ceremony taking place and available in participating Post Offices, via mail order on 1800 331 794, and online while stocks last. Australia Post Executive General Manager Community & Consumer Nicole Sheffield said the gold medallist stamp program recognises the hard work and success of our athletes while providing the public with an opportunity to connect with this year’s Olympic Games. “These Games are unlike any other in history, and we’re proud to be able to recognise our Olympians in this way and help Australians celebrate these remarkable athletes who are representing their country and performing at their peak,” Ms. Sheffield said. Australia Post was the first postal organisation in the world to produce instant stamps at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and has gone on to produce Australian Gold Medallist Stamps that feature athletes from both Summer and Winter Olympic Games.
