Ben Kinnear and Mike Paddock are police officers working for the Zero Tolerance Unit, a special division of Victoria Police. When they accidentally shoot the corpse of a judge several times each, they are reprimanded but investigate his death, leading to several other accidents, for which they are relegated to uniform duty.

If you go into this expecting a big loud buddy cop movie in a similar vein to the Lethal Weapon movies then you might be a little disappointed, though like a lot of other buddy cop movies Bad Eggs does have a rather simplistic plot. Though it does not take itself very seriously, you just have to look to the scenes paying homage to cheesy 80’s police action movies. I would also like to note that Bad Eggs has one of the more creative car chases that I have ever seen and I loved the opening scene.
It should be noted that Bad Eggs marked Tony Martin’s directorial debut. Much of the cast and crew, including Mick Molloy, Bill Hunter, Tony Martin and Judith Lucy, had all worked together previously on Crackerjack. Molloy, Lucy and Bob Franklin are all great in this. For those of you who might not be familiar with Australian television shows Molloy, Lucy and Franklin have worked together in the past. I also enjoyed Alan Brough’s performance as Northey, particularly his lines about guns and shooting. Considering this is the first time in a long while that I have watched Bad Eggs and I have to admit that I didn’t remember that Brough was in Bad Eggs. This caused me to look up his filmography and I found it interesting to see how many acting credits he has considering how readily I associate Brough with the quiz show Spicks and Specks.
