The Bandit goes on another cross-country run, transporting an elephant from Florida to Texas. And, once again, Sheriff Buford T. Justice is on his tail.

Well it looks like I am going to have round out the trilogy and make time to review Smokey and the Bandit 3. Though I am a little uncertain if I am going to look at the four prequel telemovies made in 1994 that star Brian Bloom as ‘The Bandit’.

it was good to see that the main cast Burt Reynolds, Jackie Gleason, Jerry Reed and Sally Field all reprised their roles and that director Hal Needham returned as the director because it is good to maintain a sense of continuity with franchises. I also liked Dom DeLuise’s performance as “Doc” Carlucci.
Just like the original Smokey and the Bandit 2 is a light-hearted movie (though the stakes for this movie are larger this time) also this is the kind of movie where you might need to let your brain have a bit of a coffee break because there are a couple of plot points most notably Sheriff Buford T. Justice’s continued pursuit of The Bandit if you think about it to much your brain might start to hurt. I suppose there might be some truth to the joke that you can be as violent as you want in a movie just so long as it is off screen and there are no visible injuries because there is a ‘Blues Brothers’ level of vehicular violence committed in this movie and yet in the US it has a PG rating.
Given the overall tone of the movie there actually a surprisingly touching moment between The Bandit and Charlotte the elephant towards the end of the movie.
