The Justice League has always been Earth’s first and last defense, but with the imminent arrival of Darkseid and the horrors of war that will follow, everything is about to change! With time running out, the Justice League will need all of its members and their powers like never before. But even the world’s most powerful Superheroes, including new member John Constantine, may not be able to make a difference against Darkseid’s legions.

Apokolips War is the fifteenth instalment in the DC Animated Movie Universe and is a sequel to the 2017 animated movie Justice League Dark. According to its IMDB page Apokolips War is set to be the final movie in the DCAMU (DC Animated Movie Universe), I’m a little bummed by this news because I do enjoy these movies so I guess I’ll look at this with the point of view that the end of a franchise is only an end so long as the filmmakers don’t see a profit, because judging by how open ended the filmmakers left things it seems clear that they needed some kind of way back in.
It should be noted that Apokolips War is darker and perhaps even a little bloodier then other superhero content that has migrated to the screen. In a review I read for Apokolips War the reviewer noted that this ‘wasn’t for your Disney fans’.
I enjoyed the fact that Matt Ryan voiced John Constantine again (for those of you who might not know Ryan has also been cast as the live action version of Constantine in various TV shows for DC) there was also various familiar voices such as Rasario Dawson as Wonder Woman, Jason O’Mara as Batman and Jerry O’Connell as Superman to name a few. I loved Ray Chase’s performance as Etrigan, I thought that the character was hilarious. It was also good to see that Batman and Superman where taken in directions you wouldn’t expect.
