Nekrotonic

Director Kiah Roache-Turner
Starring Ben O’Toole, Monica Bellucci, Caroline Ford
Rated MA
Score 5/6

A man who discovers that he is part of a secret sect of magical beings who hunt down and destroy demons in the internet.

I was a little excited when I came across this one because the Roache-Turner brothers wrote and directed this, the previous feature of theirs’s was the 2014 Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead. For those of you who might be interested Nekrotinic was a remake of their 2017 short DaemonRunner.
Nekrotonic might come across as being a little cheesy but it’s definitely a fun movie to watch. The action sequences had a strong old school vibe with similar feel to what they did with Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead. Demons using the internet to possess people was a clever plot point, that clearly had something to say about he rise in popularity of games such as Pokémon Go and the effect it has had on people.
I loved David Wenham’s performance particularly the monologue he had at the start of the movie. Monica Bellucci was a surprise casting choice though she was brilliant as Finnegan. I also hope to see Epine ‘Bob’ Savea in more movies. Savea had a charming on screen presence and was the comic heart of the movie.
