In a movie I made about the line up for Mystery Insanity 3 I misspoke when I said that one of these movies has been referred to as the ‘Citizen Kane of bad movies’ what I meant to say that it had been referred to by other reviewers as the ‘Citizen Kane of the Asylum’.

While watching the trailers on this DVD it definitely wasn’t a good sign that I saw a trailer for a movie that I had reviewed for another Mysterious Insanity. I think it was Mysterious 2. On that I came across an actor I saw in a previous movie reviewed in this series Christopher Karl Johnson who starred as who was Dr. Josef Mengele was also in Mega Shark vs. Kolossus as an Admiral.

There was supposed to be comedic elements to this film. To me, the only comedic elements that I noticed seemed to be unintentional on the part of the ‘filmmakers’, there was a mystery Nazi machine that looked like a cappuccino maker and I really wasn’t expecting to make a connection to the 1992 video game Wolfenstein 3D. The robot Hitter was clearly inspired by the final boss in the video game. I had to stop the movie for several minutes I was laughing so hysterically when I made the connection.
The acting was flat and unemotional, I guess partly because the only character arcs in the movie appeared to be known only by the actors themselves or more likely the writer who failed to convey these arcs to his screenplay. A small lesson for future filmmakers if you’re going to give a minor villain have a ‘noble death’ make sure that your character arcs are noticeable on screen. They must be longer than the time it takes your actor to turn around in a circle.
