A young man discovers that his father was from another dimension and that he is the key to the operation of a crystal that can be the deciding factor in a war crossing the dimensions.

Its been years since I have last watched Crossworlds. Now, what prompted this trip down video memory lane? A random purchase at a local second-hand DVD store. For those of you who might not have heard of Crossworlds don’t worry it was a straight to video release back in 1996. I was a little surprised to see that Jack Black was cast in this (what really shocked me was when I found out his first acting gig was 12 years earlier in 1984).
I have vague memories of watching this on multiple occasions, but now years later Crossworlds comes across as being the type of movie that you don’t regret watching but can also be used as ‘background noise’ movie. I will admit that it was good to see fight scenes that could be described as ‘non-action’ action, these scenes immediately made me think of the power rangers which was released 3 years earlier. Some of the special effects used, especially towards the end of the movie come across as being a little dated and maybe even a little cheesy. Rutger Hauer, definitely gave the stand out performance of the movie.
