Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis and must step forward to lead his people and be a hero to the world.

A follower of The Movie Boards’ Facebook page mentioned that a friend of theirs described Aquaman as Aquabad. Though Aquaman does have its problems, personally I would not go as far as to describe this being Aquabad. Maybe the best way describe it would be Aqua-unworthy-of-all-the-praise-its-getting and as we all know the only way the DCEU can be saved involves time travel.
That being said Aquaman is still a watchable movie, despite some what could goofy (or possibly just poor film making choices) moments and the use of a ‘recycled’ plot. This is the kind of movie I’d recommend on seeing on a large a screen as possible because the underwater scenes are beautiful, and the Atlantis sequence seemed to have a surreal otherworldly feel. However, if you do find yourself missing Aquaman your friendly neighbourhood cinema I’d advice watching it on a tv with good speakers.

The Atlantean armour is probably one of the goofiest things in the entire movie, particularly the armour worn by King Orm in the final act of the movie and I also found Arthur Curry’s ‘Aquaman’ armour a chuckle inducing seeing for the first time in a live action setting after only really being used to seeing it animated. If this Atlantean armour is true to its comic origins, that is a good thing. However, it can not be denied that in a live action movie setting that the armour would look more at home on the sets of 80’s movies Flash Gordon or Masters of the Universe.
There were scenes scattered throughout the movie when it looked like a little bit more money needed to be spent on the green screen effects. Now I will admit that the song Ocean To Ocean by Pitbull featuring Rhea is a nice enough song on the soundtrack to listen to. However, how it is used in the movie is about as cliched as using On the Road Again by Willie Nelson in a road movie.
