When Eddie Brock acquires the powers of a symbiote, he will have to release his alter-ego “Venom” to save his life.

For the past little while I have been trying to steer clear of superhero movies, I have jokingly referred to the act of steering clear of these type of movies as ‘Marvel-itis’. Now maybe I’m cured of my ‘Marvel-it is’ but I suppose that considering that Venom could be considered as an Anti-Hero and not a superhero, I won’t be able to say that I am fully cured until the next time I watch a ‘superhero’ movie at the cinema.

Venom really isn’t a Big Loud Action Movie (something that you would readily associate with almost all other Marvel movies) I got the impression that the action was scaled back compared to other Marvel movies (though it should be noted that Venom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) and is darker then a lot of the other superhero movies that are out there. Though even being a dark movie, venom is not an all the way serious movie as it does have a good sense of humour, this was helped along by director Ruben Fleischer. I’m not overly familiar with Fleischer’s work but he is known for directing Zombieland.
Tom Hardy seemed to give a good performance as Eddie Brock and for those of you who might be wondering Hardy is also credited as the voice for the venom symbiote. I was a little surprised to see Michelle Williams it has been at least five years since I have last seen a movie that she was cast in. Riz Ahmed was great as Carlton Drake

Be sure to wait for the bonus scene during the credits and then There is a trailer at the end of the closing credits for Spider-Man: into the Spider-Verse.
