When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen and Claire mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event.

Okay, for those of you wondering did I do my homework and re-watch Jurassic World before sitting down to watch The Fallen Kingdom, the answer is no I did not. For those of you who might be wondering what I thought of the first movie, well I did not like it. To be honest I kind of hated it.

Going into The Fallen Kingdom there are already two problems facing it. The current negative public opinion that faces the as yet to be completed trilogy (but if we are being honest a negative public opinion should almost be expected from the fanbase for all of the nostalgic remakes that we are seeing come out of Hollywood) and the spectre of the bad sequels from the original trilogy. I’d like to think that the filmmakers did just enough to stop The Fallen Kingdom to be a rip off of the 1997 sequel.

I liked the opening sequence on island and that Jeff Goldblum’s role had purpose to the plot and wasn’t done because the filmmakers opened up the franchise’s box of pandering. Though being said it was nice to see the tip of the hat by the filmmakers to Richard Attenborough’s character John Hammond. It was also good to see the direction that Owen and Claire’s relationship went in between the two movies.
The Fallen Kingdom is just a vanilla roller coaster that had the potential to be something good. There where a few moments that lacked enough emotional punch. I really would have liked to have been able to hate the villains of the movie just little bit more and Owen and Claire should have been more aware of their level of blame, there was a moment towards the end of the movie where they appeared to have come that realization but it needed to dawn on them earlier in the movie.

One kind of cool thing I found out in Chris Pratt’s Jurassic Journals in the extras on the Blu-Ray I had to review was that Rachelle Beinart who plays Po in the Teletubbies reboot worked as a Stunt Double on The Fallen Kingdom.
