Captain Marvel – Trailer Review

What a choice for a first trailer review Captain Marvel. Normally I don’t write reviews for movie trailers probably because I just don’t feel the need to. But considering so many of my peers do and because there is a degree of controversy surrounding the release of the Captain Marvel trailer, I thought that I just might try my hand at reviewing movie trailers and review this one.
Judging by the two-minute trailer Larson’s portrayal of Captain Marvel seems to be more serious then easy going. For those of you who might not have heard, there are people who saying that Larson did not smile enough (for the record I chuckled a little when I saw Miss Larson’s response to these people) but honestly, I couldn’t care less if she did or did not smile enough during the trailer.
Although I have yet to see this trailer at the friendly neighborhood cinema but there is nothing about the first ten seconds of this trailer that would cause me to put down my phone or stop munching on popcorn and command my attention. The really good trailers that command your attention have a one-two punch with the visual and the music like the trailer for the Iron Man movie and more recently Thor: Ragnarök. While the Captain Marvel Trailer seems to politely tap you on the shoulder and say ‘please look at me’.
The trailer really doesn’t give away too much about the plot which I suppose is a good thing, but is it enough to make me want to go see this in the cinema? I am not entirely sure. I can only hope that the future Captain Marvel trailers are better than this one.
