Officer Mike Chandler and a young civilian passenger find themselves under-prepared and outgunned when fate puts them squarely in the crosshairs of a daring bank heist in progress by a fearless team of highly trained and heavily armed men.

211 is said to be based on a true story. Actually, the terms ‘loosely based’ or ‘inspired by’ would be the accurate way to describe 211’s plot considering that it is set in a fictional town in Massachusetts while the 1997 bank robbery that movie is said to based on happened in North Hollywood in Los Angles. While watching this I was reminded of a 2003 movie that was directed by Yves Simoneau 44 Minutes: The North Hollywood Shootout, as it turns out both movies are based on the same bank robbery.

I’m not that familiar with director York Shackleton’s work, I’m almost certain that this is the first movie of his that I have seen. There always seems to be some stigma with movies that are released Direct-to-DVD, though I must admit that Direct-to-DVD are starting to have a better quality. When it comes to Nicolas Cage movies it’s still luck of the draw.
The lead up to the robbery in this movie only importance of employers settling any pay disputes that might arise with their workers in a fair and equitable manner. 211 was not the big loud action movie that I thought was going and as far Nicolas Cage movies go this better then the usual movie that we might see him in but it’s a long way from being considered one of his best roles. Michael Rainey Jr. who played Kenny gave a good performance I also liked the macgyveresque moment his character had with a mobile phone and a 9 volt battery.
