Renegades

Director Steven Quale
Starring J.K. Simmons, Sullivan Stapleton, Charlie Bewley
Rated M
Score 3/6

A team of Navy SEALs discover an underwater treasure in a Bosnian lake.

The last movie that I watched that was directed by Steven Quale Into the Storm wasn’t the best of movies, I suppose I was bound to come back to Quale’s work considering that as I write this review I am only just now making the connection between the two curtesy of his filmography.

Sometimes you just need to watch a dumb action movie, even if you have never heard about that movie. I can honestly say that I have not seen any trailers for Renegades at my local cinema, it’s a safe bet that this was a direct-to-DVD release in most of its markets. This certainly is one of the lesser military related heist movies that I have watched. Renegades does have some good points. Luc Besson was involved with the writing, the opening action sequence had an A-Team quality to it and most notably J.K Simmons was great as Admiral Levin.
