The St. Kilda Film Festival began in 1984

How many films were screened at the first St Kilda Festival?
13 films were screened at the initial event.

When did the St Kilda Festival become Academy Accredited?
St. Kilda Film Festival became Academy accredited in 2014

What can audiences expect from this year’s festival?
This year’s Festival provides a showcase of the most creative and innovative short films being produced in Australia. I would particularly recommend the Documentary Showcase which screens on Friday 19 May at 6.15pm.

Are the films being screened at the festival exclusively Australian?
The films in competition are all Australian works. However, the sidebar events which include the Vimeo Showcase and Tokyo Short Shorts are international in scope.
