Budding film-makers from Billy Blue College of Design at Torrens University Australia have taken home a prestigious Art Directors’ Club Bronze Cube award in New York for their futuristic film, Wake. Directors Dan Braga and Julz Lane took out the ADC Bronze Cube in the Motion, Craft in Motion, Direction, Single category at the 96th annual global ADC Awards gala in New York. The pair were among only a handful of Australians singled out for awards on the night, joining R/GA Sydney and Leo Burnett.
Both Dan and Julz are currently studying the Bachelor of Digital Media (Film & Video Design) at Billy Blue College of Design at Torrens University Australia. An experimental short film, Wake explores concepts of consciousness and abstract storytelling using 3D computer generated animation in a slick and visually compelling production.
“This fantastic achievement demonstrates Dan and Julz are emerging leaders in their fields,” Professor Justin Beilby, Vice Chancellor, Torrens University Australia commented “The Bachelor of Media Design (Film & Video Design) offers students hands-on skills in motion graphic design, digital video production, editing and postproduction, sound design, concept design, preproduction planning, cinematography, compositing and visual effects – specific skills required for a successful career designing and producing content for film, TV, games, advertising, education and more,” added Professor Beilby.
