International Tennis Coming to Alice Springs in September

Victorian teenager Marc Polmans takes the title in Alice Springs – his first on the Australian Pro Tour.

The Pro Tour Tennis International is returning to Alice Springs. Players will compete for a prize of $25,000USD from 16 to 23 September 2017 in the Alice Springs Tennis International. Department of Tourism and Culture, Executive Director Sport and Recreation, Phillip Leslie said he was thrilled to welcome the Australian Pro Tour back to the Red Centre.
“It’s fantastic to be able to host a top-level tennis tournament in Alice Springs. This quality sporting event provides Territorians with an exciting opportunity to experience world class men’s tennis right here in the Territory,” Mr. Leslie commented “The Alice Springs Tennis International, a key stop in the Men’s International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) Futures Event, forms part of the Australian Pro Tour and will welcome a host of leading international and Australian professional tennis players.”

Tennis Australia Pro Tour Manager Fiona Luscombe said the ITF Futures event has quickly established itself as an important tournament to kick-start the Australian Pro Tour, providing athletes with the opportunity to play after returning from the US Open.
“These international professional level events provide a really important springboard for players and being the first week back for the Pro Tour after the winter break, the Alice Springs Tennis International will be a vital lead-up for players heading into the summer. Following the success of the tournament since 2010, we look forward to the local community getting behind the event again and thank the NT Government, Tennis Alice Springs and the event volunteers for their continued support,” Luscombe said.
