The Coming War on China

Director John Pilger
Rated TBC
Score 5/6

The Coming War on China is John Pilger’s 60th film for ITV. Pilger reveals what the news doesn’t – that the United States and the world’s second economic power, China (both nuclear armed) are on the road to war. Pilger’s film is a warning and an inspiring story of resistance.

I’ve said that I really should try and watch and review more documentaries for The Movie Boards, well here we go. In the spirit of being openly honest after watching this for a second time in the space of a few days, I’m not really sure if I’ve got a complete grip on the issues dealt with in The Coming War on China and I’m not entirely sure that I ever will, but you still should go to see this one. I just hope that if there is indeed a coming war on China cooler heads will prevail. I got the impression that Pilger might have had enough material for two separate documentaries, I found the section about the nuclear testing in the Marshall islands to be extremely interesting and part of me wanted Pilger to go into greater detail about the extent of the testing.
Perhaps this might come across as being a little to Pro-China then some people might be comfortable with. But the scary point that was made in this documentary was the position of American military bases and their closeness to China.
