The Rebellion makes a risky move to steal the plans for the Death Star, setting up the epic saga to follow.

Alright before we get too far into things here is my review for Episode 7. I’m only posting the link because a couple of days ago somebody asked me about my thoughts about the latest Star Wars movie and doing my best to be as polite as possible I said that they rehashed the story in the similar fashion when a new actor takes over a Superhero role in the MCU. So by drawing a long bow, Rogue One was the House of Mouse’s first real attempt at an original Star Wars story.
Because it’s a Star Wars movie Rogue One is guaranteed a degree of success because of its parentage. Despite the bold choice of Gareth Edwards as director (the same guy who was in the director’s chair for the 2014’s Godzilla) it had a decent enough cast and look. I also liked the fact that actors cast in certain key roles did not just look the part but also sounded it. Unfortunately at best the plot was rather bland and being the story that ‘kicks off’ the saga that we all know and love it really couldn’t afford to be. It was nice to see that the filmmakers went to the universal box of fan pandering. But the story itself lacked any emotion particularly with the beginning of the third act and the crest of Jyn Erso’s (portrayed by Felicity Jones) Character arc was rushed.
