The adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York’s secret community of witches and wizards seventy years before Harry Potter reads his book in school.

Okay, the first instalment of a new Harry Potter Franchise is finally here. Is this a good thing? I’m not entirely sure. It was good to see an actor of the calibre Eddie Redmayne was cast in the lead role of Newt Scamander it gives the Potter universe’s new franchise a little bit of extra credibility. I also kind of liked the performances of Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski and Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein. There was also the unique visual style that fans would expect from the wizarding world. The big thing that I hope for this new branch of the Harry Potter Franchise is directorial continuity. It might also be a comforting thought to some of you out there that four more Fantastic Beast movies have been announced with the second in the franchise scheduled for 2018 and the third not until 2020
Some people might feel that the movie might come across as being a little thin. Part of me thinks that any ‘thin’ feeling would because that the filmmakers are building a new franchise and they need something to build on for the future movies. However, I can’t shake the feeling that there might of been some copy and pasting of character outlines from the old franchise to the new one.
