The most dangerous former operative of the CIA is drawn out of hiding to uncover hidden truths about his past.

For the record going into this I did not revisit any of the previous Bourne movies and no I haven’t read any of the books.

It was good to see that Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon team up to bring us another Bourne movie. The cynic in me can’t help but notice the formulaic nature of all the Bourne movies, is it a bad thing? Not necessarily but only if each individual movie at least tries to top the last one, and with the Las Vegas strip car chase sequence Jason Bourne just of managed to do just that. Some people could be a little put off by how the hand-to-hand fight scenes are shot but of course that is just a sign of the push towards of having more realism to the screen, but then again John Q Cinemagoer could not be that stylistic. The push for realism in action sequences might not be the best of things the filmmakers just remember not to cross the ‘that’s bullshit’ line with their action sequences there really is not anything to worry about and I suppose if you really really hate fight scenes shot with a steady-cam you can go back to a pre-1990 James Bond Movie.

Now setting that aside Alicia Vikander gave a decent enough performance and I suppose her voice was pleasant enough to draw me through a movie, there was also a great point made about online privacy something that seems to be exploited with the stream of app updates.
I understand the point that the world needed to change before this instalment of the series was made but I would have liked to have seen this made before The Bourne Legacy was made. This would have made the ‘handing’ of the franchise to Jeremy Renner the passing of the James Bond mantle. But of course that was attempted in a way and the question remains is this the last Bourne movie that we are going to see with Matt Damon or altogether?
