Jimmy Barnes to perform at the 58th TV Week Logie Awards

TV Week has announced that Jimmy Barnes, one of the most popular and best-selling Australian musical artists of all time, will be performing at the 58th TV Week Logie Awards in Melbourne on May 8th. It should be noted that 2016 marks the 25th anniversary of the release of Soul Deep, his platinum-selling album of soul songs – each a certified classic in its own right, but all given the inimitable and unmistakeable Jimmy Barnes treatment. A brand new album of soul covers is due out soon.
Jimmy said that he is looking forward to taking the stage at this year’s TV Week Logie Awards. “I’m very happy to be playing at the Logies – the biggest night on the Australian television calendar,” ‘Barnesy’ commented “I’ll be playing a song recorded in Nashville for my new album. It’s going to be a great night.”
TV Week editor, Emma Nolan, is also excited by the news. “Jimmy is Australian music royalty,” Emma says. “We’re unbelievably excited to have Jimmy take to the TV Week Logies stage this year. There’s no doubt it will be an unforgettable performance.”
Nolan pointed out that Jimmy is also working on a book – the first of two – to be published by HarperCollins later this year. Titled Working Class Boy, it’s a powerful reflection on a traumatic childhood that fuelled the excess and recklessness that would define, but almost destroy, the rock’n’roll legend. The second book will be published in 2017. It will tell the story of the singer’s ongoing career and the merry-go-round of fame, drugs and rehab across the Cold Chisel, solo and soul years.
