Host named for MTV Woodies/10 for 16

MTV has recently named Harlem rapper and cultural taste-maker A$AP Rocky host of the all-new “MTV Woodies/10 for 16,” a newly re-imagined edition of MTV’s annual emerging artists festival. “I am excited to host the ‘MTV Woodies/ 10 for 16’ and get a chance to see all of these great artists in their creative element,” A$AP Rocky commented.
Erik Flannigan, EVP Music & Multi-Platform Development explained that the “Woodies” is in its 12th year and will forgo its classic award show format to showcase more music than ever, naming and celebrating ten artists poised to rise in 2016.
“One of the best things about being a deep music fan is the rush of discovery – that incredible feeling you get when you see a new artist or hear a song for the first time and feel that instant connection” Flannigan commented “With ‘MTV Woodies/10 for 16,’ we want to showcase musicians who are generating buzz in the clubs, on college campuses and across social media. And there’s no artist better suited to present fresh talent than A$AP Rocky, a man who lives on the cutting edge of hip hop, fashion, and all-around cool.”


The one-hour LIVE broadcast of “MTV Woodies/10 for 16” premieres on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV from South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. Additionally, for the first-time ever, “MTV Woodies/10 for 16” festival will air in its entirety on the newly launched channel MTV Live (formerly Palladia) beginning at 5:00 p.m. ET/4:00 p.m. CT/2:00 p.m. PT and live stream on woodies.mtv.com. A 90-minute expanded version of the festival will air on the MTV Live channel on Saturday, March 19 at 9:00 p.m. ET. Performers will be announced at a later date.
