After going down in the fifth round, boxer Bud Gordon bowed out of the limelight. Now residing in a fixer-upper apartment in New Jersey with his girlfriend, Bud longs for his former Manhattan glory. In an effort to get back in the game, he makes a deal with a crooked restauranteur. But quick schemes rarely bring easy pay-offs and as the consequences of his business negotiations unfold, Bud has to make a choice between his integrity and his ambitions when he is framed for murder.

I not entirely sure what caused me to hire this one from the friendly neighbourhood DVD store, I guess it was the film’s boxing angle that drew me in even though I was completely unfamiliar with the movie’s director Noah Buschel or his work, in fact the only person who was involved with the film’s production that I was even vaguely familiar with was Billy Crudup.
Well, even though the Glass Chin does have a boxing angle it’s not in the same way you would expect from something like the Rocky movies.
Glass Chin was more Drama then Thriller almost to the point that I would question if Buschel was even qualified to write a thriller considering that very little was done with building tension surrounding the plot point of Bud being framed for murder, which ended up giving Glass Chin the feeling that it was a ‘mild’ thriller at best. Buschel gave his characters passable dialogue which was enough to draw you through the movie without giving up on it completely though by movie end you might find yourself questioning the process in which you choose your movies.
