Suffering from amnesia, a young man trying to discover his true identity is kidnapped by an underground crime organization and turned into a ruthless assassin.

With Kazuya’s Revenge, there is a small lesson for filmmakers about the titles of their films. Along with its original title ‘Tekken: A Man Called X’ this movie has two other English titles that have been used in other markets around the world ‘Tekken 2: Kazuya’s Revenge’ and ‘Tekken: Kazuya’s Revenge’. The lesson is very simple considering that this movie is allegedly a prequel to the 2010 movie Tekken directed by Dwight H. Little the use of the number 2 in the title ‘Tekken 2: Kazuya’s Revenge’ is not needed because it makes the unaware person believe that this is in fact a sequel when it is not.
Now the fact that Kazuya’s Revenge has the potential to be perceived to be a sequel when it’s not is the least of its problems. Now the seeming complete lack of thought or effort put into the production of the movie by the filmmakers and actors left me wondering why I even bothered to watch this movie in its entirety and hoping that people involved with the production of this movie in front of and behind the camera have considered a change in career. Granted there movies that are worse than Kazuya’s Revenge most of which have gone to win a number of Golden Raspberries yet there is a point to be made. The point being that for the fans with movies that have been adapted from books they have always had the satisfaction that the book is always better then the movie, Directors of movies that have been adapted from comic books have been metaphorically castrated by the fans of comic book source material and it seems that the fans of computer games that have been adapted into movies have witnessed a torrent of poor quality computer game ‘movies’ that just don’t bother with the movies that they have been offered to them by the movie industry with the possible exception of the upcoming Warcraft movie.
