An ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that took everything from him.

I was actually kind of impressed with John Wick, considering that both David Leitch and Chad Stahelski are first time directors and I have vague memories of not liking the last movie I watched written by Derek Kolstad which was the 2012 movie The package.
You almost never see first time directors get a movie like this and both Leitch and Stahelski’s background in stunts ensured that they delivered something that is definitely worth going to see. The good mixture of actors I knew and who I wasn’t familiar with and I was impressed with Alfie Allen’s performance he was a brilliant counterpoint to Keanu Reeves’s performance as John Wick.
As excited and blown away by John Wick as I am there is one thing that I think that needed a little more care and attention, the death of John Wick’s dog Daisy. Before the before the dead dog emotional ripcord was pulled a little bit more time needed to be devoted to developing the bond between John and Daisy for the sake of the audience. Granted brutally killing is horrendous but when Daisy died the filmmakers needed to be going for an audible response from the audience instead of the silence that I heard in the cinema.
The lesson of this movie if there ever was one, don’t fuck with the man’s dog cause it’s not going to end well for you.
