In a California desert town, a short-order cook with clairvoyant abilities encounters a mysterious man with a link to dark, threatening forces.

For those of you who are wondering this was adapted from the Odd Thomas novel series written by Dean Koontz. It’s all too easy dismiss Odd Thomas as ‘just another movie adapted from a popular novel series’ because of the quality of the movie adaptions of novels in recent years like Twilight, The Hunger Games and Divergent. But if you completely dismiss the ill-will that you might have for those movies or better yet had enough common sense not to watch, you might actually enjoy Odd Thomas. While watching this I was reminded of Peter Jackson’s 1996 movie The Frighteners, because as best I can remember both movies have a similar driving force behind their plots.
I loved the chemistry between Anton Yelchin and Addison Timlin though I couldn’t help but think that some of their dialogue had the same quipishness that would have been more at home in a Gilmore Girls episode.
